Introduction
Your privacy is important to us. At StartAppLab ("we," "our," or "us"), we are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains our data practices regarding our command-line interface tool (the "Software") that helps developers generate full-stack projects.
We only ask for personal information when we truly need it to provide a service to you, which in our case is minimal as our Software operates locally on your machine. We collect information by fair and lawful means, with your knowledge and consent.
By using our Software, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this policy.
Data Collection
StartAppLab does not collect, process, or store any personal data from users. Our Software:
- Operates entirely on your local machine
- Does not include any tracking, telemetry, or analytics systems
- Does not transmit any information back to StartAppLab or any third parties
- Contains no hidden data collection mechanisms or monitoring tools
The Software is a downloadable, self-hosted code generator that runs locally via command line to scaffold your project. All operations, including code generation and project creation, occur exclusively on your device.
Local Use
When you use StartAppLab:
- All project files are generated and stored locally on your system
- No user data or generated code is sent to our servers
- We do not have access to the content of your projects
- We cannot view, access, or analyze your code or project structure
The Software does not require internet access to function after initial download, except when fetching dependencies specified in your project configuration.
Third-Party Services and Templates
Our Software generates projects that may include code for integration with various third-party services:
- Templates may include optional third-party tools (e.g., analytics, authentication services, crash reporting) but these are disabled by default
- Any enabled third-party integrations would be under your control and subject to their respective privacy policies
- You are responsible for configuring these services according to your own privacy requirements
- Common third-party services in templates may include Vercel, Cloudflare, Supabase, Firebase, Sentry, or PostHog
StartAppLab does not receive any data from these third-party services, nor do we have access to any information you may provide to them when using your generated application.
Payment Processing
StartAppLab uses third-party payment processors to handle all transactions:
- All payment data is collected and processed directly by our payment service providers
- We do not collect, store, or have access to your credit card details, banking information, or other payment data
- Payment information is subject to the privacy policy of the respective payment processor
- We receive only basic transaction information necessary for order fulfillment (such as purchase confirmation and contact information)
After payment is complete, you receive a download link for the Software. No user accounts or ongoing authentication is required to use the Software.
User Responsibility
As a user of StartAppLab, you are responsible for:
- Ensuring compliance with applicable privacy laws in applications you develop using our Software
- Managing any data collected by applications you create
- Configuring and securing any third-party services integrated into your projects
- Creating appropriate privacy policies for your own applications
- Properly securing your development environment and generated code
We strongly recommend reviewing the privacy policies of any third-party services you choose to integrate into your applications.
Cookies and Tracking
Our CLI tool does not use cookies or any tracking mechanisms. The generated template code:
- May include example code for analytics or cookies, but these are disabled by default
- Provides you with full control over implementation of any tracking or cookie usage
- Includes comment documentation explaining how to enable optional features
Any cookie or tracking implementation would be your decision and responsibility when deploying applications created with our Software.
Website Visitors
While our CLI Software does not collect data, our promotional website (startapplab.com) may use standard analytics to understand visitor patterns:
- Basic analytics may track anonymous usage patterns and traffic sources
- We do not use cross-site tracking cookies or persistent identifiers
- The website does not require accounts or collect personal information beyond contact forms
You can use ad-blockers or disable JavaScript to limit analytics collection when visiting our website.
Data Controller Status
Due to the nature of our Software as a locally-run CLI tool that does not collect personal data:
- StartAppLab does not act as a data controller or data processor with regard to any personal data through the Software itself
- For any information collected through our website or payment processors, we act in the capacity of a data controller in terms of applicable data protection laws, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
- You remain the sole controller and processor of any data collected by applications you create using our Software
You are free to refuse our request for any personal information, with the understanding that we may be unable to provide you with some of your desired services, such as processing your purchase of the Software.
External Links
Our website may link to external sites that are not operated by us. Please be aware that we have no control over the content and practices of these sites, and cannot accept responsibility or liability for their respective privacy policies.
This includes third-party services that may be integrated into templates provided by our Software, such as authentication providers, database services, or analytics platforms.
Updates to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.
Your continued use of our Software or website will be regarded as acceptance of our practices around privacy and personal information. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any updates.
